Quality is the Critical Component
Quality starts with our team. At Lux Manufacturing we have over 100 combined years in experience machining parts. We train our employees in safety, ISO 9001 and encourage and pay for them to take classes in courses that apply to machining.
We are currently working towards our registration to ISO 9001:2008. For a detailed ist of our fully compliant and self-correcting quality management system please click here.
After receiving information on the requirements from our customers, we input this into ShopKeeper our Software from Insite Software Solutions, to generate a quote and at the same time a part master. After receiving a purchase order we verify we have the correct revision of the print and possibly ask for a solid model with the part is sufficiently complex where it would speed the programming and accuracy of the machining. We do not require most locations of holes, but would need the type of hole, whether it’s a threaded or bore and what kind of tolerance is needed.
Upon receipt of a PO, the Purchasing Manager reviews information for consistency and agreement with the RFQ, quotation, and any intervening communications or clarifications that have taken place. Lead-time requirements are re-verified for feasibility with other staff, as needed.
At a minimum, the following items are verified for completeness and correctness, customer
PO number, part number(s) and revision level(s), quantity, due date(s), pricing, taxable or resale status, billing address, shipping method. We order the correct material with certs as per our purchasing process spec, ensuring that our vendors can supply the product to meet our requirements. We evaluate our vendors according to ISO 9001 to ensure this.

The parts are released to the floor with a job traveler that includes the information on the operations required to manufacture the part. Always keeping in mind the goal of continual improvement and the necessity for consistency of the manufacturing process. Material is inspected as it comes in the shop. Parts are inspected in process before and after each operation. A final inspection process is performed before any outside processes are performed and will be repeated if needed when the parts are returned. All processes and procedures are documented in our quality manual that we can provide on request.
Our Office Manager has been appointed as the management representative for quality (QMR). The QMR reports on the performance of the system and any needs for improvement. Our QMR is also responsible for promoting awareness of customer requirements.

Monitoring and measuring equipment is used throughout Lux Manufacturing where quality is affected, since product conformance is indicated by such inspection and test measurements. This equipment is identified and calibrated at specified intervals against measurement standards traceable to NIST standards.
We recognize the need to audit customer satisfaction levels on an ongoing basis. Feedback is sought via our customer feedback survey as well as ongoing communications with our customers via meetings, telephone, e-mail, our website and unsolicited customer feedback such as compliments and or complaints.
